Where the Pichincha stayed?
Generation after generation, Ecuadorian people have reconstructed, again and again, every fact from the Battle of Pichincha learned in their History’s lessons of the school. However, where is our knowledge after classes, a big list of places and heroes? Or did we learn that the History’s objective is to be useful the fortresses and not committing the same past mistakes?
Valor, honor and freedom for citizens are some lesson that Pichincha’s war teach to us. They are valid for the present.
Valor, honor and freedom for citizens are some lesson that Pichincha’s war teach to us. They are valid for the present.
Remember that the enemy to win is one itself and the war is about slavery and injustice.
To keep our heroic spirit is to act for the people, to build community, to recover their dignity and their quality of life.
This way, History stops being a chronicle of the past and turns into an invitation for the present and the future.
Therefore, names as Marshall Antonio Jose de Sucre will not only be remembered but will be honored after two centuries of his death. So, the Battle of Pichincha will have had a reason: will have formed a nation.
